John is an award winning and record-breaking West End and Broadway actor & recording artist - probably best known for his performances as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables and as The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera.

NEW CONCERT DATES JUST ANNOUNCED

John will be appearing in concert around the UK in the coming months. He will be appearing as a special guest of Gareth Gates in 'Momentous Musicals' (Wimbledon, Torquay, Bradford and Manchester), will co-headline a concert with Bryn Terfel and the Royal Liverpool Philarmonic Orchestra (Liverpool) and will appear in 'Movies and Musicals' (London) with Louise Dearman

John will also film a live segment for Noson Lawen on S4C this month.

John will appear as a special guest of the brilliant David Phelps on June 25th at London's IndigO2 venue in the O2 Arena.

John has begun writing a regular guest column for Welsh newspaper The Llanelli Star. The column will run in the newspaper once a month. All columns will be available on this site after publication. John unexpectedly performed onstage at the Royal Albert Hall recently. He was in the audience for a concert performance by Alfie Boe who brought John onstage to join him for a totally unrehearsed and impromptu duet of Bring Him Home in front of nearly 6000 people!

 

 

 

 

John has contributed vocals to charity single 'A Miners Song'. The track, recorded as a tribute to the 8000 people who have died in mining accidents in Wales, will be released in March with all proceeds going towards the Welsh National Coal Mining Memorial to be erected next year. Over 200 artistes have contributed to the single which will also feature Aled Jones, Caroline Sheen, Daniel and Laura Curtis, Dennis O'Neill, Darren Parry, Ioan Gruffudd, Iris Williams, Jamie Pugh, Jonathan Pryce, JP Jones, Mark Llewelyn Evans, Matthew Rhys, Paul Child, Paul Potts, Pino Palladino, Rebecca Evans, Rhys Meirion, Samantha Link, Sian Phillips, Tom Lukas and Wynne Evans. With special spoken contributions by Michael Sheen, Boyd Clack, Joe Calzaghe and the late Richard Burton. The CD is available from iTunes, Amazon and Tesco and Asda stores in Wales and was premiered before the Wales v England Six Nations game at the Millennium Stadium Cardiff on the same day. John recently finished filming guest roles on "In The Flesh" for BBC3 -

The first episode of In The Flesh aired on Sunday 17th March and recently aired on BBC America. Scott and Bailey aired April 10th and The Mill will air later in the year.

 

John earned a coveted Manchester Theatre Award nomination for Best Actor in a Visiting Production for his performance as The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera 25th Anniversary Tour. Winners of The Manchester Theatre Awards were announced on March 26th. Sadly, John didn't win the award but the excellent Ray Fearon did for his performance in the RSC's Julius Caesar. Talking of Phantom, John was called on unexpectedly to stand in for an unwell Earl Carpenter for the first night of the Phantom Tour in Liverpool on 26th February. After getting the call at midday, John jumped on a train and a few hours later, having not performed the role for five months and with very little rehearsal, was onstage at the Liverpool Empire Theatre!
